General Guidelines
At Comic-Reach Chat Services there are certain rules we expect all chatters to follow while connected to our network. The network staff and administrators continuously try to take steps to make sure every chatter enjoys themselves while visiting our network. While it's impossible to guarantee that everyone will enjoy themselves, we will take action if someone is going out of their way to ruin other people's fun. Chatting on the network is a privilege -- one that can be taken away very quickly if one decides to spend their time breaking the network rules.
"Be Nice"
We all have times when we may not agree with another person in chat. Do
not escalate the situation with whomever this
may be, as this only tends to make things worse. Do
not involve other people in the channel; this
makes people uncomfortable and does not contribute to an enjoyable chat
experience. Many times the best way to deal with these situations is to simply ignore
the person in question. Report rude or inappropriate behaviour to the channel
host or network sysop/administrator. Use your whisper option when making this
contact. Never paste private whispers into an
open channel.
Our network is dedicated to the Microsoft Chat client and "comic chatting"; however, we respect the rights of our users to use their own preferred chat client, be it mIRC, pIRCh, or any other such program; as long as it does not directly contradict the network's rules or policies. War scripts are not permitted on the network.
The network's administrators and system operators (sysops) may join a channel at any time hosted where their presence is deemed necessary. If a sysop enters a channel to chat and is not visiting on official network business, the room owner or host may ask the sysop to de-op himself/herself; the sysop is required to comply, unless he/she has previously been given permission by the room's owner to remain hosted.
We ask that our users don't advertise or promote other networks while chatting on Comic Reach Chat Service. We wish to encourage those who enjoy chatting on our network to tell their friends about this network and to invite them to spend some time here. We would also like to encourage our users to feel free to promote our network on their personal websites or channel websites.
The Network Policy
1) While the network is dedicated to chatting with the Microsoft Comic Chat program, we do allow chatters to use text-based chat clients.
2) The use of swear words in nicknames, user identities, room names, or room topics is not allowed; continued attempts to do so will result in a ban from the network.
3) Nude or inappropriate characters are not to be worn in open rooms. If you feel the need to use one, the rooms you are in must be set to invite-only or should have a member password set for the room.
4) All of our users are entitled to be able to chat without harassment from other users.
5) Bots and/or scripts designed for no other purpose than to harass or deprive other chatters of their entitlement to chat freely are strictly not allowed. There is a maximum allowance of three separate log-ons to the network at a time from one IP address. If you have a home network and need to have more than three connections at a time, consult with an Administrator.
6) Room owners are allowed to set the standards for their rooms, as long as those standards are not contrary to the network's policies.
7) Some rooms may require you to use only comic characters and Microsoft Comic Chat in their rooms.
8) Newly-registered rooms must be used on a regular basis during their first 15 days of existence (at least once a day for the first 15 days). New rooms will be reviewed every 30 days thereafter. If a room isn't being used on a regular basis (once every two days), it will be removed from the network.
9) The network staff reserves the right to disconnect or ban anyone from the network for infractions of the network’s policies.
